Abstract

The constant technological developments have promoted the growth of Smart Safe Cities, which bring surveillance, artificial intelligence, and data-based policing less than one umbrella to increase security in cities. In this study, the effects of Smart Safe City programs on street crime are examined in Punjab. Analyzing crime data before and subsequent to the use of smart surveillance technologies, we recognize the efficiency of technologies like CCTV monitoring, automated emergency response, predictive policing, and real-time tracking. We adopt a mixed-methodology approach, combining crime statistics, police records etc., to track shifts in patterns of crime. Results prove an acute decrease in street crime, enhanced response rates by police, and enhanced feelings of security by the populace. System integration, privacy, and resource distribution continue to be challenges. This present research contributes to the urban security policy debate through insight into what roles are performed by Smart Safe Cities to prevent crime and what guidelines need to be adopted further to boost the crime strategy. During surveillance of masses by smart safe cities the Islamic principles of ethics must be strictly adhered to.
